Have Hope (feat. Ashraf & Sarah Jane Kim) [Prod. By Apollo V]

from Paradox Chapter Two by Karim Rushdy

lyrics

Chorus, Sarah Jane Kim
They’re tryin’ to tell me it’s over so leave it alone
But still I’m singin’ that: ‘everybody have some hope’
They be singin’ that no, no no no.
I be singin’ that ya, ya ya ya.

Verse 1, Ashraf Rushdy
A generation of biologists, studying their cells/
Micro-processed micro world, micro heavens and hells/
Tech wizards with souls trapped in inches of glass/
Science becomes magic, and the future is past/ future becomes past/
"I can do everything on my phone" when everything is collapsed/
To browsing profiles and downloading apps/
Masks are not enough to describe what we wear/
At least a mask is looking at you with its motionless stare/
I'm not anti-technology, I just actually care/
Life purpose, civilization, who's actually there/
Around me and present in the spaces of life/
Co-workers, neighbors, friends, strangers, kids and my wife/
That's why I'm writing this verse-pen as a knife/
I see you head down, slow walk, silent as night/
I see the walking dead out in the broad daylight/
And when I happen to see the eyes of a human being/
We smile - fellow survivors of the assault of machines/
On organic connections, on our hopes and our dreams/
I give out in that moment, all the love that I can/
Who knows when this survivor will meet another hu-man/
Sometimes I too, look into the looking glass/
My whole family is here, friends, co-workers and strangers/
Pictures of my children, it's where my hopes and dreams free from danger and hidden are hidden from danger/
Images of a life, nearly almost complete/
Strange that if I don't like you I can just hit delete/
Hours have passed, clashing in a clan with my friends/
And I've spoken to fam around the globe, and bought some odds and some ends/
Sent some messages for work, updated my task-tracking app/
Took a look at my calendar, plotted my course on a map/
Somehow my wife is asleep/ I'll take a picture to keep/
The memory of my love/ in my glass soul three millimeters deep/

Chorus

Verse 2, Karim Rushdy
Even with these feathers we damaged in the search for celebrity status
We can still fly because heaven will never be famished
Some say the life they were given is the hell that they're handed
And like some type of hellish advantage its spell will never be vanished
And if there's no hope then yolo
Let every treatment of pain be symptomatic and superficially bandaged
But life is like an orchestra man we couldn't breathe with its harmonies and melody banished
but like a splendidly lavish infidelity palace
we can never see past it if we're surrendering that quick
they say the remedy's plastic but in fact it's organic
so when it burns it re-emerges - wrapped in its ashes
like a spiritual passage confirmed through scientific advancements
the collective consciousness of every single continent is compassion
as if delivered through magic, the future is ours when we convert the present tempest into past tense - bars
